Why join MFG?
After a seed round and heavy investment in digital marketing, many startups hit a plateau with Meta and Google Ads, where costs can consume 30-40% of their revenue. This pushes them to explore new channels like TV, radio, and out-of-home (OOH) advertising.
*Illustrative Example
Traditional Path
- You open a new round, spending months convincing VCs to invest so that 50% of your capital goes straight to advertising.
- After months of fundraising and pitching to 100+ investors, you finally close the round. Probably the most expensive cash you ever raised.
- You heard TV worked for other brands in your sector but don’t quite know where to start. A fellow founder introduces you to a media agency.
- You sign them as partners and discuss your marketing budget. You land on a £8m plan. The agency charges you a service fee (5-15% of the media value).
With MFG:
- Media Capital Investors cover marketing costs in exchange for equity, providing you with the flexibility to either raise less or the same amount of funding and allocate capital to other costs to accelerate growth.
- VCs feel more comfortable seeing a media group on your cap table, providing not only inventory but expertise. You close the round within a few months.
- Signing a media agency becomes optional. The MFG Programme also equips you with the right knowledge and experts to execute your first mass-media campaign.
- You save months of pitching to investors and up to £1.2m in cash by working directly with MFG and media partners.
- Company A spends £8M in marketing uniformly through the year
- Marketing spends are all cash
- As a result, company A spends 4M+ in cash more including agency fees
- Company B spends £8M in marketing uniformly through the year
- Marketing spends are spent £4M in cash and £4M in media credits
- As a result, Company B is left with £4M cash

Frequently Asked Questions
What is media capital?
Media capital also known as media for equity, media for growth, is a financing option that allows founders to accelerate their growth through significant advertising in exchange for an equity stake in the business.
What is the MFG Fundraising programme?
The MFG Fundraising Programme is a specialised programme for growth-stage consumer internet startups to optimising marketing costs and amplifying reach.
How is it different from a traditional investment readiness programme?
The MFG Fundraising Programme is a specialised programme for growth-stage founders who are serious about brand building and need capital solutions to fund marketing costs. The sessions are two-fold providing both a good foundation into the UK and European mass-media landscape whilst covering key principles about media capital fundraising, what investors look for, how to prepare for DD, and term sheet negotiations.
- This programme is NOT for pre-seed companies aiming to raise a seed round. Read more about what startups we look for in the section below.
- Issuance of equity is not required for participation.
- The programme includes a shorter time commitment than most accelerators. Most accelerators are 10-12 weeks; this programme is 4 weeks.
- Each cohort will only include up to 10 companies allowing for a much more tailored, 1:1 approach, so no one-size-fits-all programming.
- The focus of the programme is to optimise media capital fundraising.
Why should I consider raising media capital?
- get access to preferential rates and the ability to influence the campaign planning;
- preserve cash and extend your runway;
- work with an experienced team that understands both worlds, the online performance, and the offline branding approach
How Does the Application Process Work?
The application process is a 3-step process.
- Start by filling out our online application form. It takes less than five minutes to complete and it’s your first opportunity to showcase your startup's potential.
- We may request additional documents, such as pitch decks or financial statements, to better assess your startup's potential
- Shortlisted applicants will be invited for an interview to delve deeper into their business.
- Final decision will be communicated to all applicants two weeks before the start of the programme.
For more information, make sure to read Inside the MFG Fundraising Programme: The Application Process.
